The UPDF on Monday met all burial expenses of the seven civilians who were shot dead by Pte. Africano Bono-Lino on Sunday at Laguti camp. The 601st brigade chief, Maj. Joseph Balikudembe, said they gave coffins, vehicles to transport bodies for burial and food. Among the dead were Bono-Lino’s wife, child and father-in-law.
KAMPALA: Students held
FIVE students were yesterday charged with stealing sh500,000 and a Nokia phone. Jackson Makeni and William Ochan of Makerere University, Peter Isingoma and David Etidau of Kyambogo University and Bonny Morrow of Nkumba University were remanded in Luzira prison by Buganda Road Court Magistrate Stella Amabilis.

Dan Wandera Ogalo, a senior city lawyer, has opposed a request in which a High Court judge Remmy Kasule, is seeking orders compelling Jack Sabiiti and Winnie Byanyima to disclose sources of their bribery allegations against him. He said yesterday it was not a requirement under the law for a defendant to disclose sources of information in written statements of defence.
KAMPALA: Trains halted
Trains transporting goods to Jinja cancelled their schedule after a trailer carrying oil fell at Wankoko railway crossing yesterday, after hitting a pothole. The trailer number UWP 750/ ZB 6855 was turning into Luzira road from 4th street when it hit the pothole. Hannington Bwire, the driver, was unhurt.
