RESULTS of the candidates who sat for the June/July 2006 Technical Education Examinations (TEE) were released yesterday.

The results for the 25 students alleged to have been involved in examination malpractices were cancelled.

A total of 8,908 students sat for the TEE from 83 centres and 3,491 students sat for the Business Education Examinations from 60 centres.

The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) secretary, Matthew Bukenya, released the results to education minister Namirembe Bitamazire (right).

Bukenya said 84% of the examination malpractices involved smuggling unauthorised materials into the examination room.
He said there were 165 cases which involved acts of impersonation.

Eighteen students of the Uganda Technical College (UTC) Kichwamba had their results cancelled for smuggling unauthorised materials into the examination room.

At UTC Lira, two students had their results cancelled for impersonation while at Buttalejja Technical Institute, a candidate sat for exams using some other person’s name and index number.

At St. Kizito Technical Institute and Kabasanda Technical Institute, two students allegedly smuggled classroom notes into the examination room.

Bitamazire urged the students to go for further studies.
