MTN Heathens have vowed to scoop the Makerere Hima 10s honours to avoid ending the season without any trophy.
Sixteen teams assemble at the Kyadondo rugby turf tomorrow for what is expected to be the biggest event of the season.
Six foreign sides including Kenyan giants Mean Machine, Kenya Commercial Bank and the Rwanda national team arrive today.
“We have been inconsistent this season but it is time to forget about the past and save our pride by winning the Hima 10s,” Heathens talisman David Mutaka vowed.
Heathens, that has been a dominant force locally, has had a poor season losing the Bell League and the Uganda Cup to rivals utl Kobs.
Captain Mohammed Asiyo has recalled former Kenyan international Tolbert Onyango and former captain Kenneth Opito to bolster the side.
“We have made changes aimed at bringing honours home and I am optimistic our critics will be silenced,” Asiyo remarked.
Heathens have won the event twice with their last victory in 2004. They will have to beat Kenya Commercial Bank in the group stage to make their dreams realistic.
The form of match makers Robert Seguya, Peter Magona (left), Brain Tabaruka and Titus Nsubuga will be crucial for the hosts.
