CHAMPIONS utl Kobs will face their fiercest competition at the Hima Makerere 10s that start today at Kyadondo.
A strong Kenyan entry means Kobs will have more than the Heathens hurdle to retain their rugby title. A record six foreign teams are in Kampala to compete for honours.
Leading try scorer Allan Musoke, match maker Edmond Tumusiime and sensational Simon Wakabi will lead Kobs’ campaign to retain the trophy.
Standing in their way will be Kenya Polytechnic and Nakuru RC in pool A before probably meeting Kenya 7s champions Harlequins.
Harlequins are top of the table in the Kenya Cup and the Eric Shirley Shield tournament, above close contenders KCB.
To do the job, Kobs led by Timothy Mudoola, have fielded nine international players including Kenyans Scott Olwoch and Job Weku.
“The boys have been consistent this season and they will tame the Kenyans,” club chairman Nathan Wasolo promised.
The tournament is sponsored by Hima Cement and Makerere University. Co- sponsors are Nile Breweries, Rwenzori Beverages, AAR, Group 4 Securicor, Kyadondo Rugby Club, Club Silk and Hot 100FM.
