Former UGU man is dead

FORMER Uganda Golf Union (UGU) secretary Edward Tumusiime died on Sunday and was buried in Mbarara yesterday.

FORMER Uganda Golf Union (UGU) secretary Edward Tumusiime died on Sunday and was buried in Mbarara yesterday.

Tumusiime, who suffered from lung cancer, started playing golf in the early 1970s in Mbarara.

He improved steadily and was handicap 8 at the peak of his game.

At the time of his death, Tumusiime was handicap 12 and a member of Mbarara and Entebbe clubs.

Off the course, Tumusiime served golf in various capacities. He worked as UGU secretary and was also a senior official of Entebbe club.

Tumusiime’s love for golf spread to his family. His widow Rhoda was president of Uganda Ladies Golf Union (ULGU). Their children Martin and Edwin are active golfers.
