Stephen Birungi, seeking a fourth national title, won the Kakira golf Open at the weekend, reports William Muwonge.
Birungi carded three-over par 75 on day two after starting off at 72 in the Madhvani Group sponsored event at Jinja club course.
The champion got a television set from chief guest, the energy and minerals minister Daudi Migereko .
Birungi, national champion from 1997 to 1999, grabbed his fourth win this season. “I feel relieved. it was a tough event. I am determined to go all the way,” Birungi said.
Birungi was joint leader, at 72, with his main rival George Olayo from Kabale on day one. But Olayo quit on the final hole on Sunday, frustrated by a bad run.
The event attracted over 100 golfers.
