Kampala is home to eateries offering different dishes. From continental to local delicacies, there is always a rich variety to choose from. One of the latest cozy establishments in Kampala is Sahana Restaurant and Bar.

Strategically located at Simbamanyo House, behind the Central Police Station headquarters and off Lumumba Avenue, Sahana, which means patience in Hindi, is an ideal eatery and bar for corporate clients. Though the corporates are the main target, the prices are well within reach of other classes of people who would want a tasty dish at a top restaurant.

“Some people fear to come here, thinking it is expensive which is not true,” says Yasmin Ruparelia Adam, the director, who has a degree in hotel catering and management.

On offer Monday to Thursday is a traditional buffet at sh7,000 inclusive of a soft drink. Friday is Oriental buffet at sh10,000 because it is a special Asian cuisine featuring Indian and Chinese food. Though Asian (mainly Indian) food is known for being heavily spiced, it is not the case at Sahana.

“During the week, we also offer specials like fish pilau, spiced minced meat, spaghetti, which are all different from the usual stuff elsewhere,” asserts Adam.
The restaurant, named after Adam’s daughter, has been around for a few weeks and its management works hand in hand with Chills and Meals, for outside catering services.

On Saturdays, there is roasted and marinated pork, chicken, goat meat and beef ranging from sh3,000. The place is open from 7.30am until midnight or when the last client leaves, but closed on Sundays.

In the evenings, more room is created to seat about 48 people. With well-stocked spirits, wines and snacks, Sahana is ideal for wedding meetings, romantic dinners, graduation parties, and surprise parties among other events.
