TWO people died on spot in an accident on Tuesday.

One of the deceased was identified as the Rev. Fr. Joseph Mulimira of Mitala Maria Catholic Parish in Mpigi district and his driver.

The accident occurred at Kagoma on Bombo Road after a fuel tanker ran over the priest’s vehicle.

The Toyota Corona car was from Bombo and the fuel tanker was from Kampala.
The Police and the Violent Crime Crack Unit battled hundreds of residents who had gathered to siphon fuel.

As fuel spilled downstream, a fire broke out in a nearby house owned by Ssenabulya.

The Fire Brigade and Fire Masters officers battled the fire as the fuel truck leaked.

Though the turn-boy was trapped in the trailer and pleaded for help, the Police had to first avert the fire by diluting the fuel with water before rescuing him.

The Fire Brigade chief, Joseph Mugisa, said they also used aqueous film forming foam to dilute the fuel.

By the time the Police tried to help the turn-boy, he was dead as the wreckage of the trailer had fallen into a ditch.

Kawempe Police chief Joseph Musobya said they recovered Mulimira’s phone.
Mulimira had been to Bombo to drop a teacher from St. Athanasius Mengo-Kisenyi.

The school headmistress, Barbara Kwebiiha, said Mulimira was the chairman of the school management committee.
