IT will be early Christmas when 21 lucky winners in the ‘City Beat and Midcom win a phone competition’ collect their phones at the Midcom premises on Friday.

And when you imagined the prized Nokia 1110i, was all they would ever ask for, Midcom has gone one better. This lucky lot will walk off not with handsets, but fully-connected phones with sh2,000 worth of airtime from Celtel Uganda.

At the raffle draw witnessed by auditors from Panel Kerr Forster on Thursday, it emerged most winners were rewarded for their loyalty to City Beat magazine.

Solomon Tazibone was expelled from boarding school early this year, when he escaped from school and attended the “City Beat Meet Juliana Party” at Kampala Casino. Winning the Nokia phone is a perfect reward for his loyalty.

Midcom’s Akash Kumar promised to partner with City Beat to ensure fans win more. He said they were spreading their wings throughout East Africa.
