MEN’S holders Sport-S Volleyball Club have been handed a fixture against slippery UCU Deacons in the SerieA volleyball play-offs opener today.

Sport-S have won several titles this season but UCU have won all their last three games — one against Sport-S. Both teams are coached by UVF vice president Nason Bwesigye.

The Mukono side overcame the champions to reach the play-off stage.

KCC take on Nkumba University in the other Serie A game at Sharing Centre, Nsambya.

KCC, who lost the 2005 final to Sport-S, also lost to Nkumba in both legs of this year’s round robin league.

“We have lost to them home and away and they are playing well. Surely we go into the game as the underdogs,” KCC team captain Hassan Sekajoolo conceded.
The return of Rajab Sangau from injury will however boost KCC’s centre attack.

Likewise, holders KCC women are celebrating the return of Harriet Ssali after nearly a year of absence when they face Sport-S.
They were forced to return Ssali to spike after finishing third on the table.

Sport-S has not taken it lightly and have since sought the services of towering basketball-turned volleyballer Agatha Baliddawa.
