We have confirmed that two internationally-acclaimed American musicians will perform in Uganda.

We have confirmed that two internationally-acclaimed American musicians will perform in Uganda. Multi-Grammy Award winning Gospel sensation Cece Winans is expected in December. Winans, a member of the famous Winans family dubbed the first family of American Gospel, will perform at Serena Hotel, Victoria Hall at 6:00pm for sh50,000 and Namboole Stadium at 2:00pm for sh10,000.

Winans who is being brought in by Power FM will perform in aid of the Watoto Children. Meanwhile, preparations for R&B/soul group Boys II Men’s visit in July are underway.

The guys will stage only one VIP concert at Sheraton Hotel at a fee yet to be confirmed. Halima Namakula is behind the show.

Meanwhile, after visiting Tanzania together with fiancé Beyonce Knowles last month, word has it that celebrated American rapper and chief executive officer of the Def Jam label Sean Carter aka Jay-Z is slated to visit Uganda. Not much is known about the rumoured visit, but an undisclosed local children’s advocacy NGO has invited the millionaire artiste to raise awareness about the plight of youngsters. The rapper, like most other American celebrities who have been here for humanitarian purposes, is expected to jet in quietly around late December or early January 2007.

He performed at the Diamond Jubilee in Dar es Salaam on October 4, as part of a seven-week world tour to raise awareness about water crisis in the world. The tour which kicked off in August was expected to take him to Accra, Ghana; Lagos, Nigeria; Luanda, Angola; Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg.
