CITY tycoon Godfrey Kirumira is a man with a sharp nose for business. You would think that a man who (under his GKK Group of Companies) owns a myriad of companies ranging from hotels, real estate to service stations, would frown at the idea of a rural primary school.

Well, not Kirumira. About two months ago, the tycoon moved in swiftly and took over St. Mary’s Boarding Primary School, Nabbingo after previous owners defaulted on a bank loan worth sh160m.

Scouts say the tycoon is so enthusiastic about the school, he wants to transform it into a state-of-the-art facility that befits his stature. First, he changed the name to St. Mary’s Junior School, Nabbingo.

Recently, he invited State Minister for Education and Sports, Charles Bakabulindi, to launch a modern 20-seater computer laboratory in which he sank sh12m in a couple of weeks.
