THE Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) chief has vowed to fight relentlessly for the party’s rights in the Milton Obote Foundation (MOF).

“I want to warn that those who think that they will take advantage of Apollo Milton Obote’s death to frustrate our great party from fulfiling the vision of its founders will be fought through all available means,” Miria Obote Kalule said yesterday.

Miria, the wife of the late party president, was addressing journalists at the UPC headquarters at Uganda House in Kampala.

UPC national chairman Badru Wegulo, deputy secretary general Chris Opoka and Lira Municipality MP Jimmy Akena attended.

Recently, a caveat was put on all MOF properties following a row between UPC officials and the MOF chairman Sam Odaka and general manager Celestino Mindra.
Odaka said, “That press release has not been copied to me. So I do not know what she (Miria) is saying.”

Miria dismissed allegations that her son Akena was behind the caveats on MOF properties.
“UPC as a party has a structure and any decisions that the party makes are discussed within the framework of the structure,” she said.

Opoka said UPC is not a legal shareholder in MOF but an equitable owner.
