RIYAZ Kurji returns to Kenya this weekend with a second position start in the Nakuru KCB Personal Loans rally. He is aiming at finishing the Kenya national rally championships in a respectable position.

The Ugandan (above), whose hope of winning the KNRC title this year was nipped when he failed to finish the Guru Nanak rally recently, will again want to emulate last year’s feat when he won the last event of the season —the Guru Nanak rally.

He was a victim of a broken drive-shaft in only the third of the scheduled eight stages, a feat that he would need to rectify if he is to push the Kenyans led by Lee Rose, who will be flagged off first. KNRC leader and holder Azar Anwar and Machakos rally winner, Ian Duncan will chase him.

Rose will lead 23 cars from the Nakuru’s KCB branch tomorrow, as he chases for his first victory of the season.

Kurji obtained a license to compete in Kenya this season.
