THE Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) will fund the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI) institutional capacity building project.

The $514,741 (about sh940m) project is expected to be implemented over the next two years.

Olive Kigongo, the UNCCI president, on Wednesday met the SIDA consultants led by Kurt Westerlund at her office in Kampala over the project.

“UNCCI and SIDA have over the last five years forged strong ties that have seen the latter fund several initiatives aimed at boosting the institutional capacity of UNCCI,” Kigongo said.

She said the project would have four components aimed at improving membership services, strengthening income generation, improvement of human resources and strengthening financial management.

“The immediate benefit of this project will be a fully-fledged consulting unit and an information resource centre. The consulting unit will benefit members,” Kigongo said.
