EXPRESS coach George Ssimwogerere, faced with enormous pressure to quit, could get some relief with a win today.
Ssimwogerere’s charges face Mbale Heroes in their second Super League soccer fixture at Wankulukuku stadium.

“I have a job to do and I am looking at getting a positive result,” the former international said on Thursday.

Express fans went wild after the giants lost 2-1 to new comers City Lads in their opener at the weekend.

The fans demanded that Ssimwogerere be replaced. The dismissal calls started when the former defender failed to land the league crown last season despite the club winning the Kakungulu Cup.

Ssimwogerere, facing the most difficult period of his five-year coaching career, missed two days of training early this week. This heightened speculation that he had quit the club only two show up on Thursday.

“I gave myself a break because I was not happy with the trend of things at the club,” Ssimwogerere explained.

Ssimwogerere, who got the job last year having excelled at the club as a player, will urge his charges to avoid the mistakes that led to defeat against Lads.

In the absence of lead forwards Tony Odur and Hassan Mubiru, Moses Aduni will again shoulder the Red Eagles’ attacking responsibilities.

Boroboro, held to a goalless draw by Masindi at their fortress in their first game, entertain veteran tactician David Otti’s Lads. They seriously need to start picking up results to avoid being cast adrift.

Lads will be driven on by their feel-good factor following their victory over Express.
