THE issue of land is a matter of life and death. It should not be mixed with politics. There is nowhere you can discuss land issues better than here. The government should come out with a clear position on Acholi land.

We should not look at those opposition MPs who are making noise about our land like fools,” Acholi Rwot David Acana II at a land workshop in Gulu on Monday.

“I don’t know the Insecticide Treated Nets (ITN) coverage in Uganda. How many households can access treated nets. If the ITN coverage is low, DDT residual spraying is a good method in controlling malaria,” Prof. Wang Shanqing, a Chinese expert at a malaria workshop in Kampala.

“We cannot attend a function where our premier is not a Ugandan or even a Munyoro. We have tried to trace his origin from Kibaale where he claims he comes from but have failed to get his ancestry,” Kasirivu Atwooki, state minister for lands talking about Kiiza Alibankoha, new prime minister for Bunyoro.

“Stop pulling strings with the government. You know these guns have caused havoc in Karamoja. They are not jewels to be purchased by the government. If you are still waiting for iron sheets and other materials, the government guns will descend on you wherever you are. Surrender the guns today and your children can benefit,” Aston Kajara, state minister for lands talking to Moroto district leaders, kraal heads and elders.

“It seems the ministry of health has slept again. I have not been waking them up. It is a ministry of sicknesses because their strategy is that you should be sick so that you qualify for treatment! But I want it to be a ministry of health which means you should not fall sick. Many of these sicknesses are preventable,” President Yoweri Museveni during the 15th anniversary celebration of the Joint Clinical Research Centre.

“The lake (Victoria) has increased by about four centimetres. However this is still too low to talk about a real recovery of the lake. It will not significantly improve the shoreline,”Fred Kyosingira, a senior water expert monitoring the Lake Victoria level, said.
