THE Kids League (TKL) U-15 soccer team will play Barcelona FC academy in Spain next month. The Ugandans have been invited by the reigning Champions League Cup kings. They will spend two days visiting the famous club.

TKL will be on their way back from Lima, Peru after competing in the “Copa De La Amistad”, one of the oldest and largest of the youth football tournaments in South America.

The talented youngsters will also stop-over in Brussels and play a game against FC Brussels Academy team.
TKL Country Director, Trevor Dudley was delighted to reveal the news, and said their South America tour is adequate preparation for the Barca trip.

“We received a special invite from AC Cantalao, the top academy team in Peru, that have won seven Gothia World Youth Cups,” he revealed.

“They wanted the most successful youth team from Africa to be the first Africans to compete in their tournament,” Dudley added.

The Kampala Kids League (KKL) team have won the Gothia World Youth Cup.
“We also thought it would be a great opportunity for us to send a team selected from our programmes in Gulu, Kitgum, Arua, Lira, Kumi, IDP Camps and kids from the KKL team in Kampala. We were so pleased when UNICEF agreed to support us,” Dudley remarked.

Now, thanks to UNICEF ties with FC Barcelona, the Ugandans have landed a dream Spanish invitation to the Nou Camp by one of the top teams in the world.

TKL have carefully moulded a team together of talented boys from their district programmes. The boys are being groomed as Peer Ambassadors to promote health and education messages in conflict areas.

The January 19 tour will also be supported by SN Brussels, Nike, Stanbic Bank and Coca Cola. The team will be coached by Eddie Butindo.
