A tablet that purifies water has been launched. The Waterguard tablet was presented to users yesterday by the Population Service International (PSI) director of maternal and child health, Shalita Muna, in Kampala.

The tablet was recommended by the World Health Organisation and National Drug Authority.

Muna revealed that the tablet would help curb the occurrence of diarrhoea, cholera and typhoid, which are leading killers of children.

She said one tablet of WaterGuard purifies a 20-litre jerrican of water after 30 minutes. Each tablet costs sh25, while the liquid type is sh500.

The Ministry of Health, working with PSI, will soon avail the tablets in all pharmacies countrywide.
Muna urged people to use the drug.
