THE Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate has issued a warrant of arrest for Brig. Kasirye Ggwanga for failing to respond to criminal summons.

Kasirye was expected in the court over allegations that he conspired to murder a city lawyer, Andrew Khaukha, Makerere university lecturer Dr Henry Onoria and city businessman Moses Kyeyune.
But Kasirye said as a serving army officer, he was not answerable to a civil court.

“If I have a case, let the army be informed and I face my charges in the General Court Martial in Makindye. But I will not report to Buganda Road Court.”

His co-accused Ronald Katimbo, Olivia Nakyato, Solome Najjuka and Prossy Nabagereka were charged, but they denied the charges of conspiracy to murder, threatening violence and unlawfully occupying Plot 117 at Najjera in Wakiso. The plot belongs to Onoria, Khaukha and Kyeyune.

Kasirye also faces charges of theft and going armed in public. His co-accused were released on cash bail of sh100,000 and their sureties bonded at sh5m not cash.

Prosecution said the suspects on December 3 conspired to murder Khaukha, Kyeyune and Onoria.
