MPS Aggrey Awori and William Kiwagama have said the President’s Christmas remark that parliament was liberated from multi-partists was a miscalculation.
“Museveni should respect constitutionalism and not stand in 2006, as this will determine the political future,†Awori said.
The MPs were speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Kampala.
Parliament will debate the constitutional amendment providing for term limits.
President Yoweri Museveni, serving his last constitutional term, has not indicated whether he will stand in 2006.
Awori said the government had to fight poverty in rural areas.
