THE Mwanga II Court magistrate yesterday said an MP tried to influence the case of assault against Rubaga division Lc3 chairman Justine Ssendikaddiwa.

Gaster Mugoya said he was offered a bribe of roof tiles and sh50,000 worth of airtime. He did not name the MP.

“There has been so much influence in this case,” he said.

He said he did not want the MP to be prosecuted.
“I don’t want this man to be prosecuted, it might ruin his political career,” he said.

This was after lawyer Erias Lukwago asked him to expose the people who had wanted to bribe him.

“In the interest of justice, we would like to know these people and to expose corruption” Lukwago said .
The court yesterday issued new summons to Ssendikaddiwa.
He is to appear in court on January 28, when his case will come up for mention.

Ssendikaddiwa was sued on suspicion that he assaulted a man identified as Stanley Kaggwa.
Prosecution says Ssendikaddiwa attacked Kaggwa at his (Ssendikaddiwa’s) office in Rubaga division.
