CASH-STRAPPED KCC nearly missed the bus taking them to Zanzibar yesterday, and only made it on board after borrowing money for the trip from player Mujib Kasule.

Kasule saved the trip but after the players and officials had chased the bus in taxis from the city centre . The scandinavian Express Service bus, delayed by two hours, had started its journey without the players.

Team manager Badru Kiggwe and Tom Lwanga intercepted the bus at Lugogo.

When KCC FC step foot in Zanzibar for the first leg of their Confederations Cup fixture against Kipanga FC on Saturday, they at least will not need directions from their hotel to the stadium.

Club coach Hussein Kheri returns to Zanzibar after his notorious fall-out with the club.

“It’s an emotional match for me that will set ground for revenge,” said Kheri.

Meanwhile, SC Villa’s opponents in the MTN Champions League Aduli arrive in the country today. A new-look Villa will look for a solid start to the campaign.
