— Charles Wesley Mumbere, the disputed Bakonzo cultural leader, has announced his intention to meet the Tooro king. Mumbere’s spokesperson, Godfrey Kabbyanga, on Sunday said the meeting was to “forge a new beginning and close cooperation between the kingdoms.”

Official sues
KAMPALA
— A former Civil Aviation Authority official has sued the aviation body over terminating his services after he was charged with treason. Pascal Gakyaro of Lweza in Wakiso district filed the suit at the Nakawa High Court, seeking damages for dismissal and recovery of terminal benefits and personal office property. He filed the suit on January 27 through Balikuddembe and Company Advocates.

12 kids freed

— The army rescued 12 children from LRA rebel captivity at Opit in Lakwana sub-county in Omoro county on Sunday. The UPDF 5th Division spokesman, Lt. Ronald Kakurungu, said the children were rescued during an offensive. He said two rebels were killed during the offensive led by Lt. Col. Okello Engola.
