Kipsiro earns place on X-country team

MOSES Kipsiro’s win at the National junior Cross-country championship has earned him a place on the national team that will participate in the World event in Paris next month.

MOSES Kipsiro’s win at the National junior Cross-country championship has earned him a place on the national team that will participate in the World event in Paris next month.
The national cross country was bankrolled by MTN, who provided sh3m in cash prizes on top of offering full connected mobile phones to the different category winners.
Kipsiro, together with Isaac Kiprop who finished third in the same race, are former athletes of the Ezra Track Team Board (ETTB) and had not been participating in national events for the last two years. The duo, part of the bronze winning team at the World Junior Championship in 2003, ran for Sebei College.
“I am back in full gear. I want to train hard and win a medal at the World Cross-country Championship. I know I have been away for some time but the fact is that I am back,†he announced after receiving the mobile phone.
Arua won the women senior and junior races to retain the over all title.
Uganda is expected to enter two teams at the World championship.
Teams:
Junior men: Moses Kipsiro, Moses Aliwa, Isaac Kiprop, Geoffrey Kusiro and Patrick Cherotwo.
Senior men: Boniface Kiprop, Wilson Kipkemei, Martin Toroitich, Gilbert Kiptum and James Kibet.
