SC VILLA depart for Eritrea today with an undersized squad of just fifteen players and without key midfielder Hakim Magumba.

The pocket-sized attacking player failed to meet the required fitness standards.

Club secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu, who was appointed as chief de mission on behalf of National Council of Sports (NCS) yesterday: said: “We have been forced to leave with a team of only fifteen players by road to Nairobi where we will then board a British Airways plane to Eritrea.”

The arrangement rescues the club, who had till then been trying to pursue sh34m to facilitate travel to their MTN CAF Champions league return fixture.

The Jogoos, who carry to Eritrea a narrow 1-0 goal advantage courtesy of a Robert Sentongo sizzler, will still have to do without Phillip Ssozi, who had still failed to secure a CAF licence.

“We can least confirm that Ssozi (Philip) and Magumba (Hakim) will not be on the team. Ssozi because of failing to secure a CAF licence and Magumba for fitness reasons,” club technical chairman Tamale Kapera pointed.

KCC FC’s opponents Kipanga FC step foot in the country tomorrow.
KCC snatched a 1-1 draw in Zanzibar and could still qualify for the next stage with a goalless draw at Nakivubo stadium.

Villa’s team: D.Onyango, S.Masaba, G.Kateregga, S.Mutumba, A.Mwesigwa, S.Jeremiah, J.Kabagambe, E.Balyejusa, R.Sentongo, A.Nsumba, S.Nsereko, D.Mayombwe, Y.Juuko, D.Wagaluka and M.Byekwaso.
