PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has directed privatisation minister Prof. Peter Kasenene to surrender all documents concerning the leasing of the Dairy Corporation to parliament for scrutiny.

The directive comes after MPs on the finance committee last week threatened to suspend the privatisation of the corporation unless the government provided information showing that the lease to a Thai company was regular.

Bright Rwamirama, the committee chairman, said the president made the order when the finance and economy committees met him at state house on Monday.

“The president in fact attacked PU (privatisation unit) for failing to present these documents to us. He told them to bring them no matter what form they are in, especially the lease agreement,” Rwamirama said.

Rwamirama told MPs last week that they had not received adequate information about the planned leasing of the corporation to Malee Sampran Sampran.

He said the committee would not approve the take over of Dairy to a foreign company with scrutinising the lease agreement, investment plan and the due diligence report.
He asked MPs to halt the lease until the committee completes investigations on the deal.
Last week Kasenene, announced the take over of Dairy Corporation by Mallee Sampra at a minimal fee of 1$ (sh1,750).
