SKEPTICISM, suspicion, then delight is what welcomed the New Vision to the home of Mukono’s best A’level student, Sonia Kentaro, 18, in Ntinda, Kampala.

After a dissatisfying O’level performance, Kentaro had lost hope of emulating her predecessors at Mt. St. Mary’s, Namagunga.

She persistently got low marks in her first two terms in Senior five.

“My teacher kept on pushing us to never give up, saying we could also make it. He would tell us that we could make it if we really believe in ourselves and here we are!” Kentaro said of her economics teacher, Milton Ochan.

Kentaro, scored AAAA in History, Economics Literature and French, paving the way to fulfil her dream of becoming a journalist.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Ochan,” she told her teacher who phoned to congratulate her. “Even Jamilah, oh no! This is great. Thank you for the encouragement, Mr. Ochan,” she kept on telling her teacher.
