UNITED Motor Sports Club (UMOSPOC) president David Bitalo is the only nominee for the presidency of motorsport governing body FMU.

Bitalo, who has just got a third term at UMOSPOC, will replace Jack Wavamunno at the elective assembly on March 5 at Lugogo. Wavamunno has come to the end of his constitutional two terms as president.

Nominations for possible successors closed last week at National Council of Sports with Bitalo as the only name floated for the FMU top post.

Former Motor Sport Africa Club (MOSAC) president Oscar Kihiika is also unopposed for the post of vice president (administration).

Kisitu Mayanja (UMC), Speedway Motorcycle Club (SMOC) president Arthur Blick Junior and MOSAC’S Cedric Buzabo are gunning for the vice presidency (technical). Incumbent secretary Lillian Busigye is also unopposed.

-Meanwhile, Dipu Ruparelia and Omar Mayanja’s last minute entries have boosted competition in the Alpha Mbarara rally.

Dipu and Mayanja have always had close battles with front runners Ponsiano Lwakataka and Riyaz Kurji.
“I am very rusty but I think I will be back in shape after two sections,” said Dipu (Mitsubishi Evo4) who has been out of action for a year.

Meanwhile, Masaka driver Jamil Ssenyonjo (Mitsubishi Lancer) has promised to end the supremacy of the Kampala drivers. “I must warn Kurji and Lwakataka that I am back,” he said.
