THE Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) was yesterday announced the body with the best Cricket Promotional Programme in Africa in 2004.

THE Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) was yesterday announced the body with the best Cricket Promotional Programme in Africa in 2004.

The global winners will be selected and announced at the end of March 2005.

This is the third year of the ICC Development Program Awards which recognise exceptional performance and service to the game in countries outside the ICC’s 10 Full Members

* THE national cricket team will get technical assistance in England on their way to Ireland for the July mini world cup. The offer was announced by Jim Love, manager of touring side Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

Love was speaking at a reception which British High Commissioner Adam Wood hosted for MCC at his residence on Tuesday. ICC High Performance Programme manager Richard Done, who is touring Uganda, attended.

Uganda will be one of 12 nations fighting for five slots to pit them against test-playing nations at the 2007 world cup.

“Uganda has a good youthful team but just lack some techniques to win higher level matches,” Love noted.

MARYLEBONE CC from England ended their tour with a 2-1 victory over Uganda XI after rain washed out the last tie at Lugogo oval yesterday.

The side return home today after a ten day playing tour.
