Bakama, Corry honoured

WORLD Boxing Council (WBC) has honoured <i>New Vision</i> sports journalists for their dedicated coverage of professional boxing.

WORLD Boxing Council (WBC) has honoured New Vision sports journalists for their dedicated coverage of professional boxing.

James Bakama and Phillip Corry were handed certificates of recognition by sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi at a dinner to mark the 42nd WBC anniversary at Grand Imperial hotel on Saturday.

Bakama has been keen on boxing in his 14-year journalism career while Corry has covered the sport for close to a decade.

The certificates were signed by WBC president Jose Suleiman and also endorsed by presidents of continental bodies affiliated to WBC.

Uganda Professional Boxing Commission (UPBC) president Celestino Mindra who is also Africa Boxing Union (ABU) secretary general and a member of WBC’s board of trustees delivered the certificates.

James Mayanja, Moses Mugalu and Stephen Ouma were also honoured.
