Uganda Securities Exchange turnover falls to sh19m

A Sh19.5m turnover was recorded at Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) yesterday compared to sh31m last Thursday.

A Sh19.5m turnover was recorded at Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) yesterday compared to sh31m last Thursday, reports Peter KaujjuM.

New Vision’s counter recorded sh17.5m after trading 70,054 shares at sh250 each, while Uganda Clays’ counter had sh2m after trading 250 shares at sh250 each.

The all share index gained by 16.11 points to close at 414.19 from 398.08 last Thursday. The rise is due to the increase in the share price of East African Breweries by sh92 to sh2,430 from sh2,338 last Thursday.

Davis Gathaara from Mbea Brokerage Services said, “There is increased activity because many institutions are trading shares in bulk, unlike individual investors.”

On the trust fund operated by African Alliance, there were opportunities in the Balanced Investment Fund, High Income Fund and the Money Fund.
