Batte keep the reviews coming!

SIR— I could not resist the temptation to commend Joseph Batte's review of the two supposedly leading bands in the country, Afrigo and Eagles Production.

SIR— I could not resist the temptation to commend Joseph Batte's review of the two supposedly leading bands in the country, Afrigo and Eagles Production. While doubting his music credentials, I always look forward to his articles about musicians, their producers and what makes them tick. From analysing why Ugandans would not debate whether or not Lucky Dube deserves a 'third term' to stage his shows at Nile Hotel Gardens to why Fred Ssebata should be crowned the 'father' of Kadongokamu music, Batte has consistently demonstrated that he is one of the few Ugandan writers who do their homework. He will of course get an occasional barb or two
from those who feel uncomfortable about his articles. But there is no doubt that he keeps those of us who prefer reading about these bands, musicians and their endless album launches in the newspapers to watching their shows in line with the times. Keep those reviews coming.
