UGANDA Securities Exchange (USE) all share index gained by 1.59 points to reach 415.78 points yesterday from 414.19 last Thursday.

The rise was due to a gain in the share price of East African Breweries from sh2,430 last Thursday to sh2,433 yesterday.

The turnover slipped to sh2.8m from sh19m.

On Thursday, New Vision (NVL) was the only active counter with a sh100,000 turnover.
On Tuesday, dfcu had sh570,000 after trading 1,900 shares at sh300 each, while NVL had sh1.7m after trading 7,050 shares.

Uganda Clays had sh400,000 after trading 50 shares at sh8,000 each.

“Investors are holding on to shares in anticipation of appreciation of the share price. This has affected liquidity leading to limited activity on the bourse,” a USE official said.

On the unit trust counter, the Balanced Investment Fund was going for sh102.6261.
