NATIONAL Council of Sports has bailed Uganda Darts Association with an offer of sh2.5m for the East Africa Federation darts championship due in Arusha next week.
The sponsorship, the biggest so far in darts, fulfils the promise of sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi.
The sponsorship package caters for only 10 of the national team of 20 players. This leaves UDA short of sh2.5m for the full team.
The Ugandan squad to compete in the Inter-state category includes Geoffrey Onen, James Otim, Richard Jjingo, Emmanuel Bitwire, and Saul Mukasa. Lilian Amaa, Olive Begomba, Faith Nasser and Hamis Mukiibi are the women on the team.
Bank of Uganda, URA and Moroto are the other clubs so far entered for the three-day regional meet that will be held on the Easter weekend.
