PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has urged MPs Miria Matembe and Maj. John Kazoora to abandon the “static wagon” and return to the Movement.
“Matembe and Maj. Kazoora should be advised to return to the Movement. Where they are now, they are lost,” Museveni said on Saturday at a give-away ceremony of Carol Kamugira, the daughter of Mbarara district LC5 chairperson, Fred Kamugira.
Museveni, however, advised those volunteering to woo the two MPs back to leave them should they refuse to heed their call.
“If they fail to listen, leave them. The Movement would go forward even without them,” he said.
Matembe is a Forum for Democratic Change promoter.
Kamugira introduced Amir Nsaamo Kitunzi, the son of Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom culture minister Othman Kitunzi.
Kazoora and MP Capt. Guma Gumisiriza (Ibanda North) were among the guests.
Welcoming Museveni, Kazoora said, “Mr. President Sir, Kashari has no problem and we love you very much.” Museveni shook hands with Kazoora amid ululation from the gathering.
Benon Kazoora, the elder bother of Maj. Kazoora, had earlier said, “Museveni be firm, Kashari is rallying behind you.”
Museveni cautioned political parties against misleading the people of Ankole.
He said in the early 80’s when the country was about to stabilise, people started “pulling” away, tearing it using religion.
He said the Democratic Party was a stillborn party and cannot manage the country.
Present were Hoima LC5 chairperson Tinkasiimire Bagonza and former Ankole premier David Kahigiriza.
Museveni earlier attended the give-away ceremony of Edith Karugire, the young sister of Edwin Karugire, Museveni’s first son-in-law.
