SIX daring kayakers head for the Kagera River in what is expected to be the most gruelling expedition in East and Central Africa on April 8. The event starts in Rwanda.
The sh18m Nile Breweries sponsored Akagera river expedition was officially launched in Bugolobi by Nile Breweries brand manager Robert Kigula. The kayak team will comprise Hendri Coetzee, Peter Meredith, Alex Mihailovic, Dale Jardin, Paulo Bibi (winner of the 2004 Nile Expedition) and Jane Dicey.
The expedition, which will go through Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda and covers 1,000kms, will be shown on DSTV’s National Geographic Channel.
