FORMER FUFA treasurer and FIFA grade one referee Cyprian Kibuuka Lukubire passed away on Friday at Mulago Hospital and was buried yesterday at Buvunya in Mukono district. Kibuuka (66) served Ugandan football as a referee’s instructor, a CAF commissioner, secretary and treasurer in both FUFA and the Buganda Football Association.

NETBALL: Kitende wins
ST.Mary’s Kitende lifted the national netball schools rally trophy with a 14-8 victory over Bishop Nankyama Secondary School on Saturday. A heavy downpour delayed the two-day netball rally, which attracted 40 teams. When the final was finally played, it was a thriller.

MAKERERE College School and Bethany High Naalya secured their maiden trophies of the national schools 10-a-side championships after trouncing their opponents in the finals at Kyadondo ground on Saturday.


SOCCER: Peace bid
EIGHT youth teams will converge in Soroti between April 20-24 for a soccer tournament aimed at inculcating the spirit of peace and cooperation among communities. Gulu, Soroti and Lira will provide two teams each while Mbale and Kampala will each have one team at the competition. Wolves Young will represent Kampala.
