KAMPALA Mayor John Ssebaana Kizito has hailed city businessman, Karim Hirji, for renovating UCB Towers, writes Catherine Ntabadde.
Inspecting the towers on Kampala Road recently, Ssebaana said, “Kampala needs modern and refurbished buildings to match the city standards.â€
He appealed to property owners to renovate their buildings ahead of the Commonwealth Conference in 2007.
Hirji said renovation of the towers would cost $12m (sh21b).
He said the tower would be re-named Charm Towers, after his wife, who died last year.
“I want this tower to be the most beautiful building in the city because I have re-named it after my late wife who was very beautiful,†Hirji said.
