Politicians have been cautioned against politicising issues connected with education.

Retired Anglican Bishop Misusera Bugimbi specifically warned against politicising the issue of feeding pupils under the Universal Primary Education programme.

Bugimbi was preaching at a thanksgiving service to mark Kabaka Ronald Mutebi’s 50th birthday at Namirembe Cathedral.
Bugimbi also attacked the Governments’s policy on arts in public universities.

Premier Prof. Apolo Nsibambi, who represented the government, however, clarified that the Government could not abolish the arts in tertiary institutions but was only emphasising sciences for development.
