Government to feeder roads in Kisoro district

A total of 72km of feeder roads are being constructed in five sub-counties of Kisoro district under the area-based agricultural modernisation programme.

A total of 72km of feeder roads are being constructed in five sub-counties of Kisoro district under the area-based agricultural modernisation programme.

reports that the programme, which is jointly funded by the African development bank, the International Fund for Agricultural development and the government, will cost sh1.5b.

The benefiting sub-counties are Nyabwishenya, Busanza, Nyakabande, Chahi and Kirundo.

The district extension coordinator, Zachary Bahizi, said the programme aimed at commercialising agriculture by easing transportation of produce to the markets.

He said two modern markets would also be constructed at Mugumira in Busanza and Nyakabande.
