KAMPALA — The Registered Trustee of Uganda Brothers of Christian Instruction, Kisubi and two others have petitioned court to stop Jovia Akandwanaho (above) from evicting them from their land at Kawuku-Kisubi, measuring over 100 hectares. Appearing before the High Court, the applicants’ lawyer, Edward Bamwite, told Justice Mary Maitum that if their application was not granted, his clients would suffer severe damages because of the developments on the land.

Belgium meet
KAMPALA — President Yoweri Museveni yesterday left for Brussels, Belgium for a three-day visit. Prior to his departure, he met South African deputy President Jocob Zuma at at Entebbe International Airport, a statement from State House said. Museveni was seen off by presidency minister Beatrice Wabudeya.

NAIROBI — The Police on Saturday arrested two Ugandans and impounded 800 litres of chang’aa (local brew) that they were distilling in Kibera slums. Chang’aa brewing is illegal in Kenya. The duo said they had been hired by a fellow Ugandan identified as Solo.

KAMPALA — A lawyer with Muwema and Advocates Company has been charged with obtaining sh70m by false pretence. Sulaiman Musoke, 38, appeared before Buganda road court Magistrate Francis Kaggwa for trying to get money from Jonathan Kakembo.

28 rescued
GULU — The army rescued 28 rebel captives and killed 16 LRA fighters during numerous battles and attacks on LRA hideouts in the north over the weekend, regional army spokesman Lt. Tabaro Kiconco said in a report released yesterday.
