POLICE got its season to a blistering start when they registered a 26-8 win over Ndejje University on Saturday at Kibuli as the Uganda Amateur Handball Federation (UAHF) league entered its second week.

Anthony Issamat was the man to beat as he scored seven goals. Patrick Tabale notched in more six as the cops got their first win of the season.

“It was important for us to start our campaign of the season with a win,” an excited Peter Ochwo, Police coach said. “This win will motivate us ahead of our next game and we hope that we can maintain our winning mentality.”

The policemen are yet to discover who they will play next as the local federation had to re-arrange the fixtures for the season.

It was the second loss for Ndejje who started their season by falling to defending champions UPDF.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s participation in the Africa Challenge Cup next month in Nairobi is in doubt. UAHF needs $6,000(sh10.6m) to send teams to the event.

“UAHF is in a tight situation. We are not sure whether we shall send a team,” UAHF secretary Fred Mugerwa said. “We need $6,000 for two teams that’s if we can send two.”

The Africa Challenge Cup is a Zone V event. It attracts teams from Rwanda, Djibouti, Kenya, (hosts), Somalia, Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
