THE Police have okayed the Conservative Party (CP) political rally scheduled for today at the Constitutional Square.

CP secretary general Ken Lukyamuzi said he wrote to the Police notifying them of the rally and was given a go-ahead.

“Under the partnership of G6 party members, we shall on Friday hold our first political rally intended to free Ugandan political parties from domination of a one-party regime,” Lukyamuzi said. The rally will start at 2:00pm.

Police spokesman Asuman Mugenyi said the rally had been okayed, adding that “Any registered party does not need to seek permission from the Police to hold a rally. Lukyamuzi was just informing us of the rally for protection.” CP is a registered party.

Lukyamuzi was on Tuesday addressing journalists at Speke Hotel. CP president general Nsubuga Nsambu and national chairman Hosea Ssewanyana attended.
Nsambu appealed to the public to attend the rally.
