PROFESSOR Edward Rugumayo has been summoned to testify as a prosecution witness against the former managing director of oilseeds. Charles Harry Twagira is charged with embezzling sh700m.
Rugumayo, the then Minister of tourism trade and industry, is required to explain to court how sh700m went missing. The summons was issued after the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate ruled that Twagira had a case to answer.

STATE witnesses in the Patrick Mamenero Owomugisha death, who are in custody, have asked the Uganda Human Rights Commission permission to testify in camera. Mamenero, a former supporter of the Reform Agenda, died in custody of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) on July 23, 2002. State Attorney Patricia Mutesi told the tribunal that the witnesses from the CMI had sensitive evidence of treason, which touched on involvement of foreign states.

Graduation

NKUMBA University will on Saturday April 23 hold its 8th graduation ceremony at the university campus, the academic registrar has said. Samuel Busulwa, in a statement said the Minister of Education, Namirembe Bitamazire, would preside over the function.
He said the graduation would follow a public lecture on Thursday at the Uganda Management Institute Hall at Lugogo.
