UTV, why not do first things first?

Recent press reports indicate that they will have special equipment for detecting television sets in the TV tax collection process. To ensure that UTV provides something worth the money they want, they need to do first things first.

For people interested in international news, the UTV station-in Mbale is very unreliable.

everyday I can tune CNN between midnight and 8.00 am from Kenya’s KTN-TV and also get BBC World Service on KBC’s Channel One every morning at 6.00 am. UTV’s Mbale station is ever off air by the time I leave for work at 7.45 am! Surely, the station should have a standby generator.

Whenever there is a power problem or loadshedding, UTV, Capital FM 90.9 and BBC 107.3 FM go off air at the same time but just after two minutes, BBC and Capital FM will be back on air but UTV may take another day ‘on leave’! It would be unfair to tax eastern Uganda viewers the same amount as those in Kampala before rectifying these problems. UTV should also start following their schedules as advertised in the press.
