ERNST and Young team golfers will leave the tee first in the Uganda Red Cross Charity tournament due today.

Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) secretary general Robert Kwesiga will tee off the team at Uganda Golf Club (UGC), Kitante.

Fourty-nine teams are in the annual event organised by UGC ladies section and URCS.

Stanbic Bank team will be the last to go into action at 12.10pm in the event geared at raising sh50m for the Mama Bag Appeal campaign.

The campaign was launched last year to assist expectant mothers in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in northern Uganda.

Today’s tournament coincides with the International Red Cross Week whose activities end tomorrow. URCS is also celebrating 40 years of existence.

In addition to golf, several other events will be held to raise sh202 to support 5000 expectant mother under the Mama campaign. The events are a fundraising dinner in October and a Christmas bazaar in December.
