THE Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has issued new literature set books for O’ Level. The current set books are being phased out with the present Senior Fours.

The board officials said the new set books, the current Senior Threes are to take, are Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Jero Metamorphosis by Wole Soyinka, The Pearl by L. Steinbeck and Mine Boy by Peter Abrahams.

Insect Play by Brothers Capek, The Black Mamba by John Ruganda, Upon This Mountain by Timothy Wangusa, Weep Not Child by Ngugi wa Thiong’o, The Great Ponds by Elechi Amadi and The Introduction to East African Poetry by Kariara and Kitonga.

Schools are expected to prepare their candidates on two books in Section A, that is, on a play and a novel and three set books for Section B. A’ Level set books have, however, been retained.

They include Redemption, The Return of The Native, A Man For All Seasons, The Outsider, Sons and Lovers, A Modest Proposal, Bleak House, Jane Eyre and Kosiya Kifefe by Arthur Gakwandi. Others include God’s Bits of Wood, I Will Marry When I Want by Ngugi wa Thiong’o, The Redemption, The Crucible by Arthur Miller, An Enemy of The People by Henrik Ibsen and King Lear and As You Like It by Shakespeare.
