UGANDAN golf’s nearly-man Amos Kamya hopes to end his winless streak in the Kinyara Open this weekend.

The Entebbe Golf Club star, Kamya, is optimistic he will upstage his rivals in the 36-hole stroke play competition that tees off tomorrow in Masindi.

Kamya, 22, out to clinch his maiden Uganda Golf Union (UGU) victory this season said he has what it takes to win the tournament that has attracted top golfers in the country.

“I have always come close but I am determined to make it this time. It’s going to be a big battle and I have to fight hard for it,” said Kamya who featured for Uganda in the Africa Zone Six tournament in South Africa last month.

He comes against national teammates Deo Akope, Charles Yokwe, Stephen Kasaija, Godfrey Mande and Dennis Anguyo in the 36-hole stroke competition.
The tournament sponsored by United Assurance has attracted over 100 golfers from Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja, Tororo, Mbarara, Toro, Kabale and Kinyara clubs.

Golfers leave this morning for Masindi in time for a practice on the par-71 course.
