DORCUS Inzikuru’s African record-breaking time of 9 minutes 28.5 is the world’s fastest time run in the 3000m Steeplechase this year. The time is on the apex of the international athletics governing body top list.
Inzikuru, who is being trained by Qatar’s national coach Renato Canova, posted the time during the Qatar super IAAF grand prix in Doha on Friday evening. She was the winner of the race.
“It is just the beginning of the season and she raced against almost all the best athletes save for the Russians. I was telling people last year that Inzikuru’s potential in this race will be seen this year,” said Inzikuru’s Ugandan manager Flavia Pasqualato yesterday.
He was happy that unlike last year, there are a number of 3000mSC races on the calendar.
“This means that he will get more chance to practice and train. She will be participating in the Turin and Ostrava IAAF races next year,” said Flavio, adding that Inzikuru is a medal potential in Finland.
